Jesus Raising Lazarus
Minutes 1-3: Review the story of Jesus Raising Lazarus
· Summary of John 11:1-44
o Lazarus, a dear friend of Jesus, became gravely ill. His sisters, Mary and Martha, sent word to Jesus, hoping He would come quickly. However, Jesus delayed His journey, saying that Lazarus’ sickness would glorify God. By the time Jesus arrived, Lazarus had been dead for four days. Martha, grieving, told Jesus that if He had been there, her brother would not have died. Jesus responded with a powerful truth: “I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.” Jesus wept with Mary and Martha, showing His deep compassion. Then, He commanded that the stone be removed from Lazarus’ tomb and called out, “Lazarus, come forth!” To everyone’s amazement, Lazarus emerged, alive. This miracle strengthened the faith of many and demonstrated Christ’s divine power over death.
